Evolution is constant.

Impactful conversations, insightful connections, and  most of all, ideas worth spreading. TEDx is an initiative that helps to bring TED to as many localities around the world. By licensing several passionate individuals, who go on to organise their own events, the latest ideas and discoveries are uncovered and bright minds are enlightened by other bright minds who have gone ahead of them.

As for TEDxCovenantUniversity, the case was no different. The initiative was the same and both the Organiser (Ayo-Oluwa Adefuye) and Co-Organiser (Nelson Favour) at TEDxCovenantUniversity craved for the spirit of TED to be brought to the four walls of Covenant University. However, bringing such an initiative required an immaculate identity for the event, which was themed “evolve”.  And to this end the question, How could we make such an amazing initiative appealing to the audience - which consists largely of younger people, whilst maintaining the TED spirit and integrating the theme of the event into the design both online and offline? The answer was in multiple phases.

First of all, we decided to paint the story of evolution through the social media feed by starting off with a light theme design and “evolving” to a dark theme, reflecting a real life evolution we’ve seen over the years in the tech sector. The dark theme also contained a background doodle containing several elements that have evolved over the years, signifying the theme of the event. And the logo for the event was a combination of the infinity sign and the letter “e”. The infinity sign depicts the fact that evolution is constant, while the letter “e” in the logo carried a distinct red to contrast with the black background, whilst conveying the spirit of TED.
